Comprehensive Car Servicing by Clare Auto Regular car servicing is important for maintaining your vehicle’s safety, reliability and performance. At Clare Auto, our qualified technicians carry out thorough inspections and checks to identify developing problems before they have the opportunity to become more serious or expensive repairs.

A comprehensive car service looks beyond simply changing the engine oil. We inspect key components throughout your vehicle, record important findings and let you know if anything requires attention now or may need to be planned for in the future. Thorough Road Tests Where appropriate, your car service includes a comprehensive road test to help identify issues that may not be obvious while the vehicle is stationary. Our technicians listen for unusual noises and vibrations and assess the vehicle’s general operation, including checking that the air conditioning system is working correctly.

These road tests can provide valuable information about how your vehicle performs under normal driving conditions. Detailed Under-the-Bonnet Checks Our technicians carry out a careful inspection under the bonnet, checking important components and fluid levels that contribute to reliable vehicle operation. This includes: Oils and fluids: Checking and replenishing required oils and fluids, including engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, power steering fluid and clutch fluid where applicable. Leaks: Looking for signs of fluid leaks that could indicate a developing problem. Hoses: Inspecting hoses for deterioration, damage or other signs of potential failure. Battery: Checking the condition and performance of the battery to help ensure reliable starting. Comprehensive Under-Vehicle Inspection Many important components are located underneath your vehicle, making an under-vehicle inspection an essential part of a thorough car service. Our checks include: Leaks: Checking for oil, coolant and other fluid leaks. Engine mounts: Inspecting mounts for wear or damage that could contribute to vibration or movement. Exhaust system: Checking for damage, deterioration or exhaust leaks. CV joints and boots: Inspecting for signs of wear, damage or split boots. Corrosion: Looking for evidence of corrosion that may affect components or vehicle structure. Suspension and shock absorbers: Checking for wear, damage and other issues that can affect handling and ride quality. Tyres and wheels: Checking tyre condition, tread depth and wheel condition. Brakes: Inspecting the braking system and recording brake pad wear so you can plan ahead for replacement when required. Interior and Exterior Checks A thorough car service also includes checking key interior and exterior safety and operating equipment, including: Handbrake: Testing operation and effectiveness. Dashboard instruments and warning lights: Checking that instruments and warning indicators are operating correctly. Wipers and washers: Checking operation and condition for effective windscreen cleaning. Windscreen and windows: Inspecting for visible chips, cracks or damage. Lights and horn: Checking that exterior lights and the horn are operating correctly. Bonnet and boot supports: Inspecting supports and their operation. Identifying Problems Before They Become Bigger Repairs One of the benefits of regular servicing is that it gives your technician an opportunity to identify developing issues early. At Clare Auto, we record important details such as brake pad wear and tyre tread depth, helping you understand the current condition of your vehicle and plan for maintenance or replacement when necessary.

Small problems can sometimes become much more expensive if they are left unattended. Regular servicing provides an opportunity to keep track of your vehicle’s condition and address issues before they potentially affect safety, reliability or performance. Flexible Car Service Payment Options We understand that the current cost of living can make it tempting to delay a car service. However, putting off routine maintenance can compromise your vehicle’s safety and performance and may allow relatively small issues to develop into more expensive repairs. We’re seeing more vehicles arrive after servicing has been delayed, only for minor problems to have grown into bigger jobs. To make keeping your vehicle maintained a little easier, Clare Auto offers Afterpay as a flexible payment option for eligible services. This can help you spread the cost of your car service while gaining peace of mind that your vehicle is being properly maintained. Trust the Experts at Clare Auto Keeping up with regular car servicing is an important part of responsible vehicle ownership. At Clare Auto, our technicians take a thorough and practical approach to servicing, inspecting the components that matter for your vehicle’s safety, reliability and everyday performance. If your car is due for a service, or you’re concerned that servicing has been delayed, contact Clare Auto in Clare to book an inspection and keep your vehicle on the road with confidence.

Engines that operate through internal combustion rely on large amounts of clean air to ensure the fuel burns properly and generates the power needed to drive the vehicle. At Clare Auto in Clare, we understand how vital it is to keep your car's air filter in good condition as part of protecting your engine's health. Your engine requires extremely clean air to function efficiently. Dirt, dust, and other particles entering the engine can cause serious damage. That’s where the air filter comes into play. It ensures the air entering the combustion chambers is clean, shielding key engine components such as the pistons and cylinders from wear and damage. Why Replace Your Air Filter? Save on Fuel Costs: Your engine requires the correct balance of fuel and air to run efficiently. A clogged air filter restricts airflow, causing your engine to run inefficiently – often referred to as ‘running rich.’ This not only puts additional stress on your engine but can also increase fuel consumption by up to 10%. No one likes spending more on petrol than necessary! Protect Your Engine: Over time, air filters become clogged and weaker, increasing the risk of damage. A damaged or overly dirty air filter can allow harmful particles to enter the engine, potentially leading to expensive repairs. Benefits of Replacing Your Air Filter: Extends the life of your engine Improves fuel efficiency Reduces vehicle emissions At Clare Auto, we always check the condition of your air filter during every full car service. Whether it’s a major or minor service, or one that follows your manufacturer’s handbook or logbook guidelines, you can trust us to keep your engine running smoothly.

Keep your engine healthy with clean air filters. Improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend engine life. Visit Clare Auto for expert maintenance and reliable car servicing.

Clare Auto are experienced at maintaining tyres and related components and can give you good advice on purchasing the correct tyres for your car.

Clare Auto know that tyres are an essential part of any car - every time you hit the roads, they suffer wear and tear. That's why we are committed to keeping them in the best possible condition.

Tyres Sales & Service

Your tyres are the only part of your vehicle that make direct contact with the road, making them one of the most important safety components on any passenger car, SUV, 4WD, ute, van or light commercial vehicle. Whether you're commuting around Clare, towing a trailer, heading off-road, or travelling long distances across South Australia, properly maintained tyres can improve safety, fuel economy, handling and tyre life.

At Clare Auto, an independently owned Repco Authorised Service centre, we help drivers get the most from their tyres through regular inspections, pressure testing, tyre rotations, wheel balancing, puncture repairs and expert tyre advice tailored to your vehicle and driving needs. Why Tyre Maintenance Matters Tyres are designed to provide grip, stability, braking performance and ride comfort. As tyres wear, their ability to safely perform these functions decreases. Poor tyre maintenance can lead to reduced traction, longer stopping distances, uneven wear, poor fuel economy and increased risk of tyre failure.

Regular tyre inspections can identify issues early, helping to prevent costly replacements and unexpected breakdowns. The Effects of Wet Weather on Tyres Wet roads can significantly reduce tyre grip. As tyre tread wears down, the ability to channel water away from the contact patch decreases, increasing the risk of aquaplaning. This occurs when a layer of water builds between the tyre and road surface, causing a loss of steering, braking and vehicle control.

During wetter months in and around Clare, ensuring adequate tread depth and correct tyre pressures is essential for maintaining safe handling and braking performance. Why Tyre Pressure Matters—Especially in Winter Many motorists don't realise that tyre pressures naturally change as temperatures fluctuate. During colder weather, air contracts, causing tyre pressures to drop. Underinflated tyres create excessive heat, increase rolling resistance and can lead to accelerated wear or tyre damage.

Overinflated tyres can also create problems by reducing the tyre's contact area with the road, leading to reduced grip and uneven wear.

For this reason, tyre pressures should be checked more frequently during winter. Regular pressure testing helps maximise tyre life, improve fuel economy and maintain safe handling. Understanding Uneven Tyre Wear Uneven tyre wear is one of the most common tyre problems and can significantly shorten tyre lifespan.

Signs of uneven wear include: Excessive wear on one edge of the tyre Feathered tread patterns Scalloping or cupping Vehicle pulling to one side Steering wheel vibration One of the most common causes of uneven tyre wear is poor wheel alignment. When wheel angles are incorrect, tyres can scrub against the road surface, causing premature wear.

If wheel alignment issues are suspected, Clare Auto can arrange wheel alignments through a trusted tyre partner while your vehicle is already in for servicing or repairs, saving you time and inconvenience. The Importance of Regular Tyre Rotations Front and rear tyres wear at different rates depending on vehicle type, drivetrain configuration and driving habits. Front-wheel drive vehicles typically wear front tyres faster due to steering and braking loads, while some 4WD and AWD vehicles may experience different wear patterns across all four tyres.

Regular tyre rotation helps: Promote even tyre wear Extend overall tyre life Improve vehicle handling Maximise tyre investment Reduce road noise Annual tyre rotations, or more frequently depending on vehicle use, can significantly increase the lifespan of your tyres. Tips to Extend Tyre Life Small maintenance checks can add thousands of kilometres to tyre life while improving safety and fuel efficiency. To get the most from your tyres: Check tyre pressures regularly, especially during winter Inspect tyres for cuts, cracks and unusual wear Rotate tyres annually Have wheel balancing checked when vibration develops Address suspension or steering issues promptly Avoid striking kerbs and potholes where possible Have wheel alignment checked if the vehicle pulls to one side Tyres FAQs Why do my tyres wear faster on one side? This is often caused by incorrect wheel alignment, suspension wear or improper tyre pressures. Early diagnosis can prevent premature tyre replacement. Can tyre pressure affect fuel economy? Yes. Underinflated tyres create greater rolling resistance, forcing the engine to work harder and consume more fuel. How often should tyre pressures be checked? At least monthly and before long trips. During winter, more frequent checks are recommended due to temperature-related pressure changes. Can a punctured tyre always be repaired? Not always. Repairability depends on the size, location and type of damage. A professional inspection is required to determine whether a repair is safe. Why do my tyres need balancing? Wheel balancing ensures weight is distributed evenly around the wheel and tyre assembly. Imbalances can cause vibration, uneven wear and suspension stress. Trust Clare Auto for Tyre Advice and Maintenance Your tyres play a vital role in the safety, comfort and performance of your vehicle. Regular inspections, pressure checks, tyre rotations and prompt attention to wear issues can help maximise tyre life while reducing operating costs.
